Combustion Air Preheaters & Economizers - Providing Permanent Fuel Savings
![]()
A major source of costs for owners of industrial process heaters/boilers is attributed to the loss heat from hot exhaust gases released into the atmosphere before all of its potential energy has been utilized. Combustion Air Preheaters (CAPH) and economizers are typically used to combat this issue.
A CAPH preheats combustion air entering into the burner instead of having relatively cold ambient air. This preheated combustion air reduces the amount of fuel needed in combustion process. Savings in fuel can quickly (in as little as a few months) pay for the addition of the CAPH altogether. For example, four Combustion Air Preheaters were recently purchased, Mid Summer 2011, by a customer needing to make several of their existing processes more efficient.
Similarly, an economizer works much like a combustion air preheater. The economizer extracts energy from exhaust gases, and transfers it into the cold process return fluid instead of the combustion air. The savings in fuel cost are much the same.
Newpoint Thermal offers Combustion Air Preheaters (CAPH) and Economizers for new as well as existing process heaters/boilers. If permanently reduced fuel costs and a system that will quickly pay for itself sounds like something your process could use, please contact one of our Sales Engineers for more information.

NPTH - Giving Back in 2011!
On April 7th, 2011, Newpoint Thermal participated in a community service building project with the Northwest Metro Atlanta Habitat for Humanity. Sixteen employees and spouses volunteered to assist in the project and we were joined by Ellis Kilgore and James Wolf of Swagelok of Georgia. Our group helped frame and erect the exterior walls of the house as well as attach all the OSB to the frames.
It was pleasure for all involved to work alongside the NW Metro Atlanta Habitat for Humanity team, the members of the Assurant team sponsoring the home build, and the Popoola family as they worked towards their dream of home ownership. Our thanks to all of those who participated and to NW Metro Atlanta Habitat for Humanity for allowing us to participate in this rewarding experience. Feb 01, 2011

Fuel Gas Performance Skids Used in Regeneration of Steam to Electricity
![]()
Newpoint Thermal recently engineered and is manufacturing fuel gas performance heating skids for a power station in Virginia. The 500 plus megawatt power station is in the process of being built by one of the largest energy producers and transporters in the United States. It is estimated that the plant will generate a new supply of electricity for over 140,000 homes. The commissioning of the power plant is expected sometime next year.
Newpoint Thermal’s fuel gas performance skids will be used within the process of electricity generation. Excess steam from the plants system will be recovered to generate new electricity. As an added benefit, the fuel gas performance heating skids will contribute to the minimization of the systems carbon foot print. Electricity generation leaves behind one of the largest carbon footprints. Newpoint Thermal’s Fuel gas performance heating skids contribute to lowering the carbon footprint by filtering out non-condensable particulates, preventing them from entering the turbine. Additional benefits include a reduction of installation time and cost. Apr 01, 2009
